FAW National Coaches Conference 2020 cancelled due to Covid-19 pandemic

The 2020 FAW National Coaches Conference has been cancelled, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder was confirmed as the headline speaker for the showpiece event, due to be held in Newport on the weekend of May 23 and 24, 2020. 

The current crop of UEFA Pro Licence and A Licence candidates, including former Everton star Tim Cahill, Aston Villa striker Juan Pablo Angel and Liverpool defender Djimi Traore, were also due to attend. 

All UEFA Pro Licence, A Licence and B Licence coaches who were due to revalidate will now have their licences extended until May 2021, so they can renew their qualifications at next year’s event.

The next FAW National Coaches Conference is expected to be held at the Celtic Manor and Dragon Park, Newport, on May 22 and 23, 2021, and all coaches currently booked on the 2020 event will be contacted to transfer their booking.

FAW Technical Director Dave Adams said: “In light of the current Covid-19 pandemic, it is with regret we have had to take the decision to cancel this year's National Coaches Conference.

"However, we will ensure that all coaches who were due to attend the 2020 conference will be invited to our 2021 event and their qualification will automatically be revalidated and extended until May 2021.  

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued support of our world leading coach education programme, and look forward to seeing you all in 2021."

Club Development Conference

The pandemic has also caused the postponement of the FAW Trust Club Development Conference, due to be held on Sunday 10th May, across three venues (Eirias Park, Carmarthen Town and the University of South Wales).

As an alternative, we are hosting a webinar, on 11th May at 6:30pm, via Zoom.

This webinar will gain some information on one of the items due to be covered at the conference, our Club Accreditation programme, as well as highlighting key COVID-19 support for clubs.

The webinar will last around 45 minutes and participants must register in advance.

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

There is a 100 participant limit so if you are unable to attend, we will be sharing a recording of the webinar with all clubs following the event.
