Euro 2020 Initiatives | How you can get involved

Wales is getting excited about the Euro 2020 tournament and we've designed and developed a series of initiatives to help clubs grow and children fall in love with football, during and after the tournament.

Here are details of three Euro 2020 projects that have been created to support our clubs to address challenges caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Fun Football

For the past two seasons, as part of the FAW/McDonald’s Charter Mark Scheme, a series of free fun football sessions have been delivered.

The aim of these sessions are to introduce new children, age 5-11, to the game.

This June, to coincide with the Euro tournament, the initiative will be extended to include FAW Accredited Clubs.

There will be a limit on the number of providers and subsequently an application process will be held – clubs will receive remuneration for delivery, and the sessions will be advertised as part of a national campaign to support clubs with the recruitment of new players.

Club Recruitment days

With club recruitment opportunities being hindered over the last two seasons, we have devised three bespoke support packages to aid clubs in their recruitment drive in readiness for the new season.

Each package has been tailored to support the following three areas; players 5 – 11 years, players 12+years old and volunteers.  Club can access this support by signing up to hosting a recruitment day event.

Further information can be found on the attached supporting document.

Free Football Leaders Award

To aid clubs in preparing for the new season, we are offering one complimentary place on the Football Leaders Award course per club.

There are 295 spaces available, so clubs are required to identify and nominate an individual from within their club who is looking to gain further insight into how they can create fun and safe environments for young players in a future role at the club as a team helper or a coach.

Application window open | April 21st 2021 – May 21st 2021

*Please note the application window may close earlier if the course allocation number is reached before the above deadline*

Confirmation of course place | W/C 31st May 2021
