FAW Grassroots Football Awards

Every year we celebrate grassroots football heroes with our McDonald’s FAW Grassroots Football Awards

The annual FAW Grassroots Football Awards celebrate the hard work of the unsung heroes who make football tick.

Every year, along with our partners McDonald's, we take nominations for award winners in the following categories.

  • Volunteer of the Year (The People's Award)
  • Young Volunteer of the Year
  • Community Club of the Year
  • Community Coach of the Year
  • Outstanding Achievement Award
  • Grassroots Project of the Year
  • Junior League of the Year
  • Fun Football Provider of the Year

A panel then decides the winners, who receive their awards at a glitzy ceremony before a home Wales international match.

Why do we have Welsh Community Football Awards?

Grassroots football makes a vital contribution to the health of the national game and we recognise these clubs and individuals with the Community Awards.

They are a great opportunity for us to celebrate the dedication and commitment shown by clubs, coaches, players and volunteers, across Wales.

Here are full details of each category...

People's Award - Volunteer of the Year

Across Wales, every evening of the week and every weekend of the year, there are thousands of dedicated volunteers who go unnoticed. But these individuals are essential to our national game, so this prestigious award is a wonderful way to recognise the heroes. This could be anyone with any involvement in football be it a coach, organiser, administer football, someone who helps others and grows the game.
