A Summer of Football Fun in Wales

Summer Soccer Camps

To celebrate Wales hosting this year’s UEFA Super Cup Final on Tuesday 12th August, junior clubs and accredited organisations across Wales got into the spirit by running summer soccer camps thanks to the FAW Fun Football programme.
Over 20 organisations, in partnership with the FAW , hosted the soccer camps in the hope of finding the Welsh football stars of tomorrow. The camps provided an opportunity for boys and girls of all abilities to play the game in a safe and fun learning environment. <2r>
More than 1250 children took part in the sessions held across Wales, 11% of the participants were girls and more than 20% were not registered with a club. To celebrate Wales hosting the UEFA Super Cup Final, players were invited to attend and share in the fun and games. Certificates were awarded to all who attended as well as spot prizes for those players who demonstrate good sportsmanship and fair play. <3r>
Programme leader Jay Probert, said “Our soccer camp programme presents a great chance for accredited organisations to provide footballing opportunities at a subsidised rate. With over 20% of attendees this year not being part of a club it demonstrates that the scheme reaches out to those who are not already engaged."
