They made the perfect start to the tournament
Wales 1-1 Rep of Ireland (Wales win 3-1 on pens)
Wales U15 girls kicked off the 2017 Bob Docherty Cup with a dramatic penalty shootout win against hosts Ireland.
After a pulsating 1-1 draw, the teams could only be split by a shootout, which ended 3-1 to Wales.
Now a win against Scotland will guarantee Matt Clement and Kat Lovett's team a place in Wednesday's final.
An all-action first half saw chances for both sides but they went in all-square at 0-0.
But shortly after the break, the hosts took the lead, thanks to a Zara Foley penalty.
Wales battled back into the match though and got their opportunity to equalise when striker Aneeka Bardsley was felled in the box.
Winger Lucy Attwood coolly slotted home the equaliser from the spot.
The match finished level and a penalty shootout was played out to decide the outcome.
In the shootout, Welsh keeper Grace Burke set the tone with a great save from the opening penalty.
That advantage was never relinquished and a stunning second save helped Wales on their way to a 3-1 shootout win.
Excellent penalties from Sam Wynne and Aneeka Bardsley put Wales in the perfect position before Hayley Hoare grabbed the glory with the winning penalty, ensuring the Welsh girls made the perfect start to the annual home nations tournament.
They play Scotland at 2pm on Tuesday and a win will ensure a place in Wednesday's final at Dublin's AUL Complex.
