KICK IT Sports and Vauxhall bring football fever to North Wales

Fun Football

KICK IT Sports in partnership FAW and Vauxhall held a Fun Football course this summer in Holyhead during August to get into the spirit of Wales hosting the UEFA Super Cup final on Tuesday12th August. Over 80 children aged between 5 and 12 years old attended over the two days, with children coming to the course from all over Anglesey.

All children regardless of age or ability were enthusiastic to learn new skills and enjoyed playing football with their peers. A fantastic time was had by both coaches and children.

Over the two days the children were actively involved in acquiring new and exciting skills including a variety of turns and tricks from the KICK IT coaches. They also learned new techniques such as shooting, passing and dribbling. Chris Thompson of KICK IT Sports commented: “I believe it is very important that we encourage young players to further develop their skills and techniques and then with a bit of luck more players can progress to play for Wales!"

As the children were still energized by the UEFA Super Cup events, KICK IT decided to enable the children to focus this energy into their very own Mini- Football tournament every afternoon. Each child received a well-earned certificate. In addition, the coaches handed out footballs to some children who demonstrated good behaviour and excellent skills. The parent of a child attending the course commented, “it’s great to see all children go away with something and have smiles on their faces”.

It was a great occasion, the weather was fantastic and the pitches were in excellent condition thanks to Ysgol Kingsland. Chris Thompson, also a scout for a top premiership football team, thought that there was some outstanding talent on show as well as great attitudes and a willingness to learn and develop new skills was shown from all the children. He said, “It was a great response, and it was very inspiring to see children enjoying the world’s greatest game in a fun, friendly and safe environment”.

KICK IT Sports is looking forward to the next school holiday period in which they are able to invite new children from across North Wales to join them on their fantastic football and multisport courses. KICK IT Sports hold various courses across Gwynedd, Conwy, Denbighshire, Wrexham, Flintshire and Anglesey. With their new website up and running, parents and children are able to check out when and where courses are being held.
