Great day at Bangor City FC Hosting Literacy Trust Club Author Event

8 schools and 140 pupils descend on Bangor City for Literacy and Football Event

Great day at Bangor City FC on Thursday 19th May hosting The Literacy Trust UK's Premier League Reading Stars Cymru Club Author Event.

Fantastic Day with 8 Primary and High Schools from across North Wales descending on Bangor City with over 140 pupils aged 10 - 13 participating!!! This inspiring and motivation event consisted of 3 parts: a literacy session with a local Author; football coaching sessions run by Coleg Menai Students and a Stadium Tour with City's community coaches.

Each group of pupils were engaged in an Author Literacy Workshop with local Author Martin Daws. He undertook the Literacy workshop with the pupils in the Farrar Suite which saw the pupils listen to extracts of Martins work alongside completing a writing activity of their own.

Students from Coleg Menai then delivered a fun football session for the pupils on our 3G training pitch, which saw the participants engage in a dribbling and skills session along with a match.

Each group's session was then concluded with a tour around the Bangor University Stadium, led by Bangor City's community coaches.

A Bangor City spokesperson said "this was a fantastic event to host, it was great to see so many schools and pupils from across North Wales in attendance, having a great day developing their literacy as well as their football skills!! Huge thanks to Martin and the Coleg Menai students for all they're hard work over the day and to the Literacy Trust for choosing to host their event at Bangor City!"
