Girls Development Fixture Day

Inaugural fixtures for all six Performance and Development centres across Wales

Sunday May 18th 2014 saw the first ever national fixture day for the Performance and Development Centres in Wales. The six centres - West, South, Gwent, Central, North Coast and North East travelled to Newtown Football Club to play three fixtures during the day.

The Performance and Development Centres aim to provide extra quality coaching for players in each area of Wales to prepare players for regional and national squad selection. Each centre is fully supported by the Welsh football Trust within our player development programme and funded either by its local area association or is self funded.

Nicola Anderson, Women’s Coaching Coordinator for North and Central Wales said “The event gave each centre the opportunity to play high standard games in a professional environment – it was great to see so many players on our pathway given the opportunity to come together for fixtures”.

The inaugural event saw a great display of talented players and coaches working within the Girls' Player Pathway in Wales. <6r>

The Welsh Football Trust would like to say a special thank you to all the staff at Newtown Football Club for their outstanding efforts in hosting the event, the officials for their attitude and support during the day, and finally all the players coaches and staff for making the day a success. We look forward to making this an annual event.
