As we move into a new online world for our coach education programme and the education of candidates becomes ever more invaluable, it is important we create an environment to ensure we consistently are able to provide our coaches with the most current and required information to place within their coaching toolbox.
As many of our welsh coaching family will be aware our mainstream coach education awards such as;
:- FAW Football Leaders Award (Level 1 Certificate in Coaching)
:- FAW C Certificate (Level 2 Certificate in Coaching)
:- FAW First Aid in Football Awareness have historically and will continue to be awards which contain a three year lifespan.
Within this 3-year window on completion of your course, coaches are required to attend a specific amount of hours (different depending upon the level of award you hold) and revalidate your qualification through our FAW Revalidation workshops or Grassroots Coaching Conferences (for Level 1 and 2 Holders) whilst those who hold awards higher up our coaching pathway, attend our National FAW Coaching Conference to hear information, ideas and thoughts from some of the leading figures in our game.
For the FAW First Aid in Football Awareness award, due to the ever changing nature of the environment, protocols, laws and legislation, candidates who remain within our game are required to re-complete and attend this award every three years, to again ensure they provide themselves with the most accurate and effective knowledge to ensure the paramount safety of their players.
From January 2016 this format will extend across additional FAW Foundation Awards, with the below courses delivered within the new year containing a 3-year expiry date for our coaches, the awards will include;
• FAW Football Leaders Award
• FAW Goalkeepers Award
• FAW First Aid in Football Awareness
And our FAW Safeguarding Award (previously recognised as our FAW Child and Welfare Protection Award)
The process of change will be communicated in full to all new coaches accessing our and their awards in the new year, steps will be provided to ensure the coaches have a full understanding of when their qualification expires, including automated emails and notifications from within our new online coach education portal.
Across the coming weeks, months and seasons the opportunity and vehicle’s provided to support our revalidation of awards will constantly develop and evolve, increasing the number of revalidation evenings and workshops we deliver locally to our coaches across wales and with further developments of our new online portal, the opportunity for coaches to revalidate their awards via our online learning modules in seasons ahead.
*All awards excluding our FAW First Aid in Football Awareness will have future online revalidation options in the months and seasons ahead.
Please keep an eye on www.fawcourses.com for further updates, information and importantly opportunities ahead in regards to our coach education pathway in Wales.
