Cymru Cup Success

The National Football Development Centre, Dragon Park, Newport played host to the 2014 Cymru Cup on 27th & 28th May. The tournament was attended by The Right Worshipful Mayor of Newport, Councillor Matthew R H Evans, who joined the Welsh Football Trust’s Chief Executive, Neil Ward, and Technical Director Osian Roberts, in opening the event.

Seventy two players from across the country were invited to participate in the intense two day tournament. Aimed to inspire the next generation of Welsh International footballers, the teams comprised of three squads made up from the ever improving Welsh Premier League Academies and a combined Regional Squads Team. The North and South regional squads support the Welsh Football Trust's National Development Squad.

Teams competed in three games each, over two days and were supported by strong crowds on all occasions. The tournament is a platform for players to showcase their abilities and an opportunity for coaching staff to continue their work in talent identification and player development.

The Welsh Football Trust would like to thank all players, supporters, match officials and guests. We hope you enjoy this montage of the tournament.
