Host End of Season Gwyrfai League Festival

Host End of Season Gwyrfai League Festival

Saturday 16th May saw Bangor City FC continue to develop their new partnership with the Gwyrfai Junior Football League through hosting an end of season Fun Football Festival for U6 and U7 teams on the 1st team pitch at the Book People Stadium, Nantporth, Bangor.

This partnership has been developed in conjunction with the Welsh Football Trust which saw Bangor City host Friday Night Festivals for the Gwyrfai League during the 2014-2015 season and culminated in this fantastic end of season spectacle. This was a fantastic day with 34 teams from across North Wales, most from Gwynedd and Anglesey, entering the festival with over 200 players taking part.

Playing in this festival was an inspirational and empowering experience for the young footballers having the opportunity to play in a Welsh Premier League football stadium, against teams from across North Wales, challenge themselves and most importantly have fun. After the success of this season's Friday Night Festivals the partnership between Gwyrfai League and Bangor City is being strengthened even further for next season with 2 Friday Night Festivals being hosted on the FIFA 2* 3G Pitch from September through to April, 1 for U6 and U7 and 1 for U9B each month.

To facilitate the further development of the Friday Night Festivals, the funds which were raised through the end of season festival are going towards purchasing new goals to be used on Friday Night's for the 2015-2016 season. Bangor City FC Community Officer Ethan Ray said “this was a fantastic event to host at the football club, it was great to see so many children in attendance, having fun, playing football and using the fantastic facilities which we have here, I am sure that having the opportunity to play in a Welsh Premier football stadium will be a day these players will remember for a long time”
