Bangor City FC Kick Off Partnership with Gwyrfai League

Fun Football Festival for U6 and U7 teams

Fun Football Festival for U6 and U7 teams

Friday 16th January saw Bangor City FC launch a new partnership with the Gwyrfai Junior Football League through hosting a Fun Football Festival for U6 and U7 teams on the 3G at the Book People Stadium, Nantporth, Bangor.

This partnership has been developed in conjunction with the Welsh Football Trust who have funded the facility costs of hosting the festivals and have worked with the league to develop this new fun festival format, providing players with the opportunity of lots of game time and hence, lots of football. It was a fantastic night and great to have players from across the Gwyrfai League, which covers North East Gwynedd, coming together through this festival playing football and having fun.

With 12 U7 teams and 6 U6 teams this was a fantastic spectacle and a great advertisement for junior football in the area with over 110 children getting the opportunity to play football on a state of the art FIFA 2 Star 3G Pitch. Through hosting these festivals at a central venue where all teams come together it helps to ensure that all teams get matches even if one club doesn't show up. Every team and every player will still have fixtures to play on all-weather surface preventing matches being cancelled, and it is an empowering and inspiring experience for the players engaging with this format and utilising these facilities.

A Bangor City FC spokesman said “this was a fantastic night to host at the football club, it was great to see so many children in attendance, having fun and using the new facilities which we have here at the club, this festival format is great for the players as it gives them guaranteed matches, lots of game time and great opportunities to develop as footballers and we are looking forward to developing this partnership further in the future”

Bangor City FC are hosting a similar festival for U9 teams from the Gwyrfai League this Friday 23rd January and will be hosting a further 2 festivals for U6 and U7 on 20th February and 3rd April.
